Bhakta Sammilani Down The Years

First ever Bhakta Sammilani

1916 : The first ever Bhakta Sammilani was held on 27th December 1916 at the 'Kokilamukh Saraswat Math' in Assam established by Paramahansa Srimat Swami Nigamananda Saraswati Deva in 1911. In this 3-day long Bhakta Sammilani, disciples, devotees from households and sanyasis and brahmacharis from Math and Ashrams had participated. The devotees had invoked Jagadguru Srimat Sankaracharya and Mahaprabhu Sri Gaurang Deva to preside over the sessions of the first two days, respectively, while Sri Sri Thakura himself had presided over the last day's conference. The unique Sammilani that was begun by Swami Nigamananda Deva in 1916 with a small group of intimate devotees, disciples and sanyasis; has now become huge in nature. It has gone to hold its 94th session in all-India level in 2009 and the 58th session at regional level, silently inspiring people to progress in the spiritual path together to become ideal human beings to serve society truly.

1947 : The 1st Pradeshika Bhakta Sammilani by Nilachal Saraswat Sangha (Puri), established by Srimat Swami Nigamananda Saraswati Deva in 1934, was held at Ankoli of Ganjam district in Orissa. About 60 devotees congregated in this Sammilani, which was presided over by the Raja of Bada-Khemundi,Sri Ramachandra Anang Bhim Deo. Immense spiritual significance is attached to theevents leading to the selection of this place for the 1st ever Pradeshika Bhakta Sammilani and the beginning of a great spiritual movement, thereafter.
